AI Prompts: Learn Swedish and Swedish Culture
AI prompts to copy for learning Swedish: a study plan, conversation practice, phrases for everyday situations, traditions such as fika and Midsummer, and text correction.
An AI assistant can be a patient practice partner when learning Swedish: it explains, corrects and plays through conversations. It does not replace a language course, and it can only describe pronunciation, not hear it. You will find the basics on the page Learning Swedish and cultural background in Public Holidays and Festivals. All topics: AI Prompts for Sweden.
Good to know: AI assistants also make mistakes in foreign languages and sometimes sound too formal or too literal. For important texts, also ask a native speaker or check a dictionary.
Study plan
A personal plan for Swedish
A realistic start, matched to your time and goal.
I want to learn Swedish. My level is [beginner, A1, A2 or B1], my native language is [native language], and I also speak [other languages]. I have [number of minutes] minutes a day and want to reach [goal, e.g. get by on holiday, speak at work, prepare for the move] within [time frame]. Create a study plan for the first four weeks with daily tasks, vocabulary topics and one speaking exercise. Briefly explain the key grammar points each time, such as the two genders (en and ett words) and word order. Ask me about my progress after four weeks and adjust the plan.
Conversation practice
Role play for everyday situations
Practise as in real life: café, hotel, doctor, viewing a flat.
Play a role-play with me in Swedish. The situation: [e.g. ordering in a café, hotel check-in, calling about a flat listing, small talk with a neighbour]. You are [your role], I am [my role]. Speak simply and slowly, at level [A1, A2 or B1]. Answer only in Swedish with one or two short sentences and wait for my reply. If I make mistakes, correct them only after the conversation, with a short list and an explanation in English. Begin now.
Phrases for specific situations
The most important sentences for my trip
Handy as a cheat sheet for the holiday.
Make me a list of 25 useful Swedish sentences for [situation, e.g. restaurant, shopping, refuelling, emergency, hotel, hiking]. For each sentence give the English meaning and a simple phonetic guide for English speakers. Order the sentences by how common they are and point out words that are easy to stress wrongly. Also say that the phonetic guide is only an approximation.
Explain customs and culture
Understand fika, lagom, Midsummer and Lucia
Good preparation for invitations and celebrations.
Explain the Swedish custom [fika, lagom, Midsummer, Lucia, crayfish party or allemansrätten] so that I do nothing wrong as a guest. Answer: what does it mean, how does it typically go, what rules and unwritten expectations are there, and what should I bring or better leave at home as a guest? Distinguish between what is usually true and what differs by region or family.
Correct texts
Have your own Swedish text checked
You write, the AI shows you what to improve.
Here is a short text that I wrote in Swedish. Correct it, show every change in a list and briefly explain why in English. Then give me a more natural version that sounds the way a Swede would say it, and say whether it is formal or casual. [Paste your text]
